Sharks: No Pavelski, no changes?

San Jose will be without center Joe Pavelski tomorrow night. The San Jose Mercury News reported today that Pavelski will be out for two weeks and quoted the team as saying that Pavelski underwent “a minor procedure … for a lower body injury.” Vague much? That makes “therapy day” sound revealing, but I digress.

That’s a big loss, since Pavelski was a 25-goal scorer last season. The Sharks obviously have had some other changes since last season — Dany Heatley in, Milan Michalek and Jonathan Cheechoo out, for instance — but Terry Murray said he didn’t expect the Sharks’ style of play to change much.0

MURRAY: “I don’t think they’re going to make big changes. They had their coach come in last year and they had a very successful regular season. I think his philosophy, his foundation, his fundamentals are in place. I don’t know if I’m right, but I don’t anticipate there to be big changes in their overall structure and philosophy going into this season. I think they’re just going to reinforce it and let their good players and skill take over, and play the right way.”
