Murray postgame quotes

Terry Murray’s postgame thoughts…

(on Greene’s goal…)
MURRAY: “A great play by Frolov. He does his thing down deep in the offensive zone. He holds onto it and he finds people, and it’s a matter of getting pucks to the net sometimes. That’s what we keep telling our guys, that good things can happen.”

(on overcoming the early part of the first period…)
MURRAY: “Columbus came out and played well. I don’t know if we started poorly or… I would give them a lot of credit. They came out with a big push, and Jonathan Quick was the reason why we were still at 0-0 after a couple of their power plays. Sometimes what you need to have from your goaltender on the road is a readiness to play and play very intense. We got organized after that and settled it down. The second goal was very big for us. Obviously, Kopitar coming in and scoring, it helps you to settle down even a little more, to start to play the game the way you know how.”

(on what is driving the team on this good stretch of play…)
MURRAY: “Playoffs. Playoffs is the driving force. We had a great start to the season. We had some bumps along the road, a little bit of a dry spell, and the next thing you know, we’re right there on that (playoff) cut-off line, and it was important to get back into the thick of things by playing better hockey. We just stayed with it. I thought, even during a couple of those losses, we played very well and just didn’t come out on the right side of it. But we stayed with it, and now we’ve got a few wins under our belt, confidence is better. So it’s a good thing. We continue with this road trip now, two more games.”

(on winning games that the Kings are now generally expected to win…)
MURRAY: “It highlights the `belief’ attitude that the players have, going into each one of those games now. We’ve had problems with Columbus. They’re a big team, they’re a heavy team. They’ve come into our building and played some very hard games against us, and in here we haven’t had a lot of success. So when you do get on a roll, and you do start to play and win games, you do start to develop an attitude that, hey, you’re a good hockey club. When you know the reason why you’re winning some games, if you stay with it, and follow through every shift, every situation is a very important compete situation. It’s a 60-minute game, and you can recover.”
