Williams postgame quotes

Justin Williams’ postgame thoughts…

(on going 7-3-1 in their last 10…)
WILLIAMS: “If you had told us we would go 7-2-1, we’d jump on that. If you go 7-2-1 in any 10-game stretch, you’re going to be first in the league. But we feel we deserved a better fate. It’s too bad. Two tough breaks, and they scored. Quickie made some great saves along the line too, but I felt like we carried the play for most of the game. We didn’t get the result we wanted, but I guess that’s hockey. Sometimes we don’t play great but we still end up winning the game. This is the other side of the spectrum.”

(on staying in the game in the third period…)
WILLIAMS: “I felt it, at the end of the second period, that we were going to win this game. I felt like we seemed to have them tired and we seemed to have a jump on them all night. They got a quick goal in the third period, yeah, and that was somewhat deflating, just like their first goal, but we felt like we kept at it and we had a real chance to do it. We had good chances in the last minute there, with the semi-power play, and we weren’t able to get it done, but that’s hockey.”

(on the long break, and the chance for other teams to catch the Kings…)
WILLIAMS: “At some point, our games in hand were going to catch up with us. They’re probably going to catch up with us here in a few days, and then we’ll have a broader look at exactly where we’re at. There are a lot of teams bunched in the top six in the conference, actually the whole conference. There are a lot of teams bunched together and a lot of games going to overtime, so a lot of teams are getting points. I thought we deserved better tonight.”
