Greene postgame quotes

Matt Greene’s postgame thoughts…

(on what it means to be first in the conference…)
GREENE: “Never too high, never too low. Even keel. That’s got to be our mantra, going through these 82 games. This is what we wanted to do, though, to start the year. We wanted to have a good start in this front-loaded schedule, and make sure that we were playing well and give ourselves a chance to be in the mix of it after the halfway point. Right now, we accomplished that, and it’s just a matter of keeping that going. This is when the games get real tough, when you’re going into buildings as the No. 1 team in the conference. Nobody is taking you lightly. Everybody is playing you hard and gearing up for games. Now it’s up to us to raise our game to meet theirs.”

(on managing to get two points without playing their best…)
GREENE: “I think that stuff is something that can come back and haunt you, playing sloppy and getting those points, when maybe you shouldn’t. Don’t get me wrong, I’m loving taking these two points, and I’m loving winning games and seeing ourselves high in the standings, but there’s a lot we’ve got to work on here. We’re not the Detroit Red Wings, where you can have an off night, get those two points and come back and play your A game the next night.

“I think we can’t let habits creep into our game. There’s still a lot of things we’ve got to work on in practice, and make sure that we’re not playing these sloppy games. We’re winning games, but at the same time, we’re giving points away. Guys are still getting points and still climbing the standings right there with us. We’ve got to bear down and hopefully win some of these games in regulation.”
