Here’s what Terry Murray said tonight about the status of Wayne Simmonds and Ryan Smyth…
Question: Is there an update on Wayne Simmonds?
MURRAY: “He’s going to be going under the knife Monday. He will have an operation and get his meniscus clipped, and we’ll go from there.”
Question: How did he get hurt?
MURRAY: “We don’t know. Very candidly, honestly, there was no one incident, one hit, one situation. At the end of the game, he walked out of the building. He was not having any issues whatsoever. I don’t know what the right wording is for it, but it just kind of came on yesterday, unfortunately. So let’s take care of it, get it over with, and get back to playing.”
Question: Is there any update on Ryan Smyth?
MURRAY: “All I can say on Ryan Smyth is that, when we come back from the three games, I believe he’s going to be ready to step right into the lineup. … He’s not going to play in the three games in Canada.”
Murray said he had not yet discussed, with management, whether a forward would be called up from Manchester.
