Murray postgame quotes

Terry Murray’s postgame thoughts…

(on Quick’s game)
MURRAY: “Jonathan Quick was very good here tonight, right from the very start, where St. Louis, I think it was, had a pretty good scoring opportunity on that low walk-across. He was right on it, and he stayed with that same kind of game throughout the night. Real strong mentally, real strong with positioning, very aggressive and a big part of our win.”

(on getting two points instead of one…)
MURRAY: “Points are very important, at any time of the year. To be able to come away with two points here tonight, it’s a very good feeling. Tampa, they go with three forwards in the overtime. They’re looking to get that extra point. It’s important. Great job in the shootout. Kopi a great goal and Quicker some great work.”

(on who called for the interference call…)
MURRAY: “You know, I don’t know. But not player on our bench moved. Everybody knew that there was going to need to be a conversation about it. I’ve watched the replay, and I can’t give you an impartial opinion, I’m sure, but when I look at it, with my experience, it is the correct call. O’Donnell did not cross-check him. He did not push him in. There has to be an attempt by the player to stop, and Quick got turned sideways on the play. It’s the correct call, in my view of it.”

(on the physical play…)
MURRAY: “That was a real hard game. That was two teams battling, almost a division-rivalry attitude out there. Great intensity, great battle, heavy play I was very pleased with our play below the hash marks in our end. That’s something that I’ve been talking to the players about for the past several days, about the importance of digging in there. You can go around the whole team, on our side of it. There was excellent penalty killing. Zeus blocking shots on the penalty killing. It was a huge sacrifice. He went down and got injured on it, but just a great play. And then the power play came through for us here tonight. All around, it was a great effort.”
