Brisson has seen it all

Other than family — including his wife, Stacia, and sons Steven and Jesse — perhaps nobody knows Luc Robitaille better than his close friend and former player agent Pat Brisson, who first met Robitaille as his teammate in junior hockey. Brisson runs his highly successful agency out of Los Angeles and has stayed close with Robitaille since Brisson came to Los Angeles in 1987. Brisson talked about what Robitaille’s Hall of Fame induction means to him…

BRISSON: “It means so much to Luc, and to me as well. For me, when I came in Saturday, I started having a million flashes in my head, from the first day I came to L.A. and all the sacrifices Luc did as a player, and playing with him as a junior player as well and sharing his philosophy and his thinking and his competitiveness. Seeing, every step of the way, from L.A. to Pittsburgh to New York to L.A. to Detroit back to L.A., I learned a lot from Luc. In a 20-year career, there are so many steps and highs and lows, but it’s special.”

I also asked Brisson if he felt, as many do, that Robitaille’s personality never really changed…

BRISSON: “That’s his biggest quality: Luc is Luc. Luc was the same way, at 19 years old, as he is at 43. The same way. More experienced obviously, because of life, but the same personality. Always curious, always very happy-go-lucky. He makes you feel like a million bucks all the time. He’s holding court and he’s always happy. He has a good heart. He’s always been the same, no matter what. He’s human, and he takes himself at the same level as anybody.”
