Reign Notebook 10/30 – Practice Lines, Reigny Day Pod, Purple Reign, Insider Video

Good Afternoon, Insiders!

The Reign were back on the ice for Day 1, ACG (After Carl Grundstrom). Here’s how the Reign lined up –

Kempe – Anderson-Dolan – Frk
Eyssimont – Sutter – Luff
Imama – Kupari – Rempal
Sodergran – Bouma – Doty – Rymsha

Anderson – Clague
Stanton – Strand
Bjornfot – LaDue
Reddekopp – Durzi

Petersen / Kehler

Couple of Reign Notes –
– No need to fret, Reign fans – Cal Petersen’s absence at yesterday’s practice was simply a maintenance day. Reign goaltending coach Matt Millar suited up in net for the practice alongside Cole Kehler. Petersen was back on the ice in full force this morning.
– Good to see Sean Durzi continue his recovery process towards returning to the lineup. Durzi has not featured for the Reign since Opening Night in Ontario, when he suffered an upper-body injury. Durzi returned to the ice last week, in a red, non-contact jersey, and has skated in full in a black jersey each day this week, featuring on a pair with Chaz Reddekopp.
– Good comments on some Reign players, former Reign players, etc from Kings Head Coach Todd McLellan. Click here for Jon’s piece that includes notes on Grundstrom, Prokhorkin and Anderson-Dolan.

It’s a Reigny Day!
Speaking of Jaret Anderson-Dolan, he joined Cameron Close and I on the first episode of the Reigny Day Podcast, the newest addition to the Kings Podcast Network. Big thank you to JAD for hopping on with us, was great having him as our guest.

I’m excited to get this up and running this season. We dabbled in the podcast realm this season, but this was far and away better than anything that we put together a season ago….a year older, a year wiser, whatever the expression is….but there has been an increased demand for Reign content this season and hopefully this is a welcomed addition.

We’re hoping to use our interviews on the Reigny Day Podcast to get to know our players, coaches, staff, etc better as people, not necessarily just talk about the X’s and O’s of hockey, and I think that’s something that people want. The Reign have a great group this season, and it’ll be exciting to showcase some of those personalities on the podcast. If you listen to our interview with JAD, I think you’ll get more of the tone of what we’re going for – He was a really willing participant, we all had some fun and we enjoyed having him on.

We are aiming to have bi-weekly episodes, though we could turn in more frequent episodes depending on team schedule. Check it out below!

Purple Reign Returns

Purple Reign is back – It’s Hockey Fights Cancer Weekend in Ontario. The Official Hockey Fights Cancer initiative through the NHL runs during the month of November, and the Reign will run its initiative early with this Saturday’s game against Bakersfield (11/2). The Reign will wear these purple jerseys, shown below, which will be auctioned off following the game. All proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society. A great jersey design for a great cause.

Hockey Fights Cancer Night is one of the best promotions the Reign do all season. If you’d like to attend, and make a donation in the process, the team offers a ticket & donation pack that also includes a T-Shirt, which can be purchased here starting at $30.

Between Two Insiders
Below is the latest episode of Between Two Insiders – Great to work with Jon on creating these. Talk is based around accountability, including how Mike Stothers holds his players accountable in the AHL, and how similar winds may be starting to blow with the Kings. Also, notes on Carl Grundstrom and Jaret Anderson-Dolan and their play with the Reign this past weekend.
