The LA Kings have signed unrestricted free agent goaltender Cole Kehler to a three-year entry-level contract, Kings Vice President and General Manager Rob Blake announced today.
The 19-year-old Kehler (born Dec. 17, 1997) is a 6-4, 205-pound native of Altona, Manitoba who has appeared in 22 games this season with the Portland Winterhawks (WHL), posting a 17-4-0-1 record, .931 save percentage, a 2.20 goals-against average and two shutouts.
Among league leaders, he currently ranks second in goals-against average and save percentage, tied for second in wins, fourth in shutouts and sixth in minutes played (1,307).
During the 2017 WHL playoffs with Portland, he appeared in 11 games, recording a 5-6 record, .897 save percentage and a 4.17 goals against average to help Portland reach the Western Conference Second Round before falling to the Kelowna Rockets.
