Practice Notes: Reign Ready to Roll vs. San Diego

The Ontario Reign wrapped a rare full week of practice at Ontario Center Ice today ahead of tomorrow’s showdown with the San Diego Gulls at 7:00 p.m. at Valley View Casino Center. Per Head Coach Mike Stothers, no major adjustments or tweaks as the Reign and Gulls meet for the third consecutive contest.

Last weekend, the two sides battled to a 1-0 Reign victory on Friday in San Diego and a 4-3 shootout setback on Saturday at Citizens Business Bank Arena.

ORI: Moving into your third-consecutive contest against San Diego, what did you see in the previous two meetings last weekend that may have thrown you a curve ball compared to previous meetings? What do you expect tomorrow?
Head Coach Mike Stothers: Well, for them, they have a different personnel. They have a lot of guys up in Anaheim. We have a lot of guys playing up in LA, so the development process has been working out for both organizations. The fact that we have this California division has been tremendous for the AHL and the parent clubs. They’ve got some guys feeling their way, but they also have some familiar faces like Schultzy (defenseman Jeff Schultz) and JST (forward Jordan Samuels-Thomas) and Sabby (forward Scott Sabourin) so there is a Reign flavor to their team. Not much has changed Jay. It is easy to dislike them.
