LaDue assigned to Ontario and will play tonight; Martinez return imminent

Defenseman Paul LaDue has been assigned to the AHL-Ontario and is expected to be in the Reign’s lineup for tonight’s game against the Chicago Wolves at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill.

This is another indication that Alec Martinez’s return to the Kings is imminent. Martinez skated through a full practice on Friday without any issues and was used as a defenseman on the top power play unit with Drew Doughty. At Saturday’s morning skate, he returned to his familiar even strength pairing alongside Jake Muzzin, placing Christian Folin alongside Oscar Fantenberg. Kurtis MacDermid was the extra defenseman at the morning skate.

The team has not officially activated Martinez at this point. Generally, when a player is ready to return from injured reserve, the roster move will be announced within several hours of game time. Los Angeles plays Buffalo on Saturday and the New York Islanders on Sunday. Both games start at 7:30 p.m. at Staples Center.
