April 4 postgame notes

-With the win, Los Angeles improved to 82-83-39 all-time against Edmonton, a record that includes a home mark of 44-36-21. The Kings have won 11 consecutive home games against the Oilers, dating back to a 3-0 loss on November 3, 2011. All teams won their home games in the season series, so with a head-to-head record of 2-3-0, Los Angeles dropped the season series to Edmonton for the first time since 2005-06, when they went 1-3-0.

-The Kings improved to 23-19-5 against the Western Conference, 12-13-2 against the Pacific Division, 8-8 in two-goal games, 17-29-2 when their opponent scores first, 10-21-2 when trailing after one period, 15-3-4 when tied after two periods and 3-2-2 when shots are even.

-Los Angeles scored at least six goals for the third time this season (3-0-0; also 11/8/16, 7-0 W @ TOR; 2/9/17, 6-3 W @ FLA) and at least five goals for the eighth time this season (7-0-0; also 11/5/16, 5-0 W vs CGY; 1/12/17, 5-1 W vs STL; 2/1/17, 5-0 W vs COL; 3/23/17, 5-2 W vs WPG, in addition to games listed above). When the Kings score three goals, they have a record of 29-5-2.

-Los Angeles erased a two-goal deficit to win a game for the third time this season (last: 3/2/17, 3-2 SOW vs TOR).

-With four points (1-3=4), Nick Shore set a new career-high for points and assists in a game and tied the most points in a game and assists in a game by a King this season.

-Jonny Brodzinski (0-2=2) recorded his first career NHL point on Nick Shore’s goal.

-Dustin Brown (1-1=2) registered his 10th multi-point game of the season.

-Trevor Lewis (1-0=1) extended his career-high in goals for a season (11) and is just two points shy of tying his career-high (25, 2014-15).

-Paul LaDue (0-1=1) registered an assist for the third consecutive game (0-3=3).

-Connor McDavid registered an assist, two shots on goal and a minus-three rating in 20:26 of ice time. He won one of seven faceoffs.

-The Kings attempted 54 shots (27 on goal, 12 blocked, 15 missed). The Oilers attempted 52 shots (27 on goal, 15 blocked, 10 missed). Kyle Clifford, Nic Dowd, Alec Martinez and Jordan Eberle tied with a game-high four shots on goal.

-Los Angeles won 36-of-55 faceoffs (65%) and 16-of-18 faceoffs in the first period. Anze Kopitar won 12-of-18, Nick Shore won 7-of-10, Nic Dowd won 10-of-15, Adrian Kempe won 0-of-1 and Jeff Carter won 7-of-11.

Wednesday, April 5 is a recovery day. The Kings’ next practice is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 6 in advance of that night’s game against the Calgary Flames.
