April 2 postgame notes

-With the loss, Los Angeles fell to 87-101-34 against the Arizona franchise, a record that includes a home mark of 47-46-17. The Kings finished the season with a 2-2-1 record against the Coyotes, losing the season series for the second consecutive year and the third time in the last four years. Los Angeles was eliminated from playoff contention with the loss.

-With the loss, the Kings fell to 22-19-5 against the Western Conference, 11-13-2 against the Pacific Division, 18-13-7 in one-goal games, 16-29-2 when their opponent scores first, 9-21-2 when trailing after two periods and 28-24-3 when outshooting their opponent.

-Los Angeles was held to either zero goals or one goal for the 26th time in 78 games.

-Since Jonathan Quick’s return, Anze Kopitar, who assisted on Alec Martinez’s goal, has six goals and 16 points in 18 games. Over an 82-game season, that production pro-rates to 72.9 points.

-By playing in his 1,550th game, Jarome Iginla moved past Alex Delvecchio for sole position of 12th place on the NHL’s all-time games played list. His three-game goal and points streak was snapped.

-If this was to be Shane Doan’s final game against the Kings, he will finish his career with 38 goals, 81 points, a plus-20 rating and 115 penalty minutes in 111 career games versus Los Angeles.

-The Kings attempted 70 shots (35 on goal, 16 blocked, 19 missed). The Coyotes attempted 33 shots (15 on goal, 10 blocked, 8 missed). Drew Doughty, Anze Kopitar, Derek Forbort, Tanner Pearson and Jeff Carter tied with a game-high four shots on goal. All Los Angeles skaters finished with at least one shot on goal other than Kyle Clifford and Jarome Iginla. Kings defensemen finished with 12 of the team’s 35 shots on goal.

-Los Angeles won 34-of-64 faceoffs (53%). Anze Kopitar won 13-of-21, Nick Shore won 7-of-15, Adrian Kempe won 3-of-10, Jeff Carter won 10-of-17 and Jarome Iginla won 1-of-1.

The Kings are scheduled to practice at 11:00 a.m. at Toyota Sports Center on Monday, April 3.
