March 4 postgame notes

-With the loss, Los Angeles fell to 107-102-36 all-time against Vancouver, a record that includes a home mark of 64-41-18. At 1-2-0 against the Canucks this season – Vancouver is 2-0-1 against Los Angeles – the Kings will lose the season series for the first time since 2012-13, when they went 1-2-0. There is one game remaining between the teams, March 31 at Rogers Arena.

-Los Angeles fell to 18-14-4 against the Western Conference, 9-9-1 against the Pacific Division, 17-11-6 in one-goal games, 12-23-2 when allowing the first goal, 7-18-2 when trailing after one period and 23-19-2 when outshooting their opponent.

-By killing off both Canucks power plays, the Kings have killed off 46 of their last 48 shorthanded situations since John Tavares’ power play empty net goal on January 21 at Barclays Center. The 95.8% success rate is the best in the NHL over that span.

-Los Angeles has allowed a first period goal in 11 of the last 13 games.

-With 25 second period shots, the Kings set a season-high for shots in a period and came within two shots of the franchise record. Jimmy Howard stopped all 27 shots in the second period of a 2-1 Red Wings win at Staples Center on January 7, 2010, a game won on a Darren Helm goal with 18 seconds remaining in the third period. Howard finished with 51 saves.

-Los Angeles has one five-on-five goal – scored by Tanner Pearson against Toronto – in the last three games.

-Trevor Lewis scored the first power play goal of his career and ninth goal of the season, tying a career-high set in 2014-15.

– Alec Martinez (1-1=2) scored the first shorthanded goal of his career and now has 32 points (8-24=32) on the season, setting a new career-high. His previous high was 31 (10-21=31), set in 2015-16.

-Tanner Pearson’s three-game goal streak and four-game point streak were snapped.

-Trevor Lewis played in his 499th career NHL game.

-Adrian Kempe (0-2=2) recorded the first multi-point game of his career.

-The Kings attempted 80 shots (44 on goal, 20 blocked, 16 missed). The Canucks attempted 30 shots (21 on goal, 4 blocked, 5 missed). All Los Angeles skaters finished with at least one shot except for Brayden McNabb, who registered four shot attempts. Jeff Carter led all skaters with six shots on goal.

-The Kings won 34-of-65 faceoffs (52%). After losing 14 of the first 19 faceoffs of the game, Los Angeles won 29 of the next 46. Anze Kopitar won 9-of-24, Trevor Lewis won 2-of-4, Nic Dowd won 4-of-9, Adrian Kempe won 5-of-9 and Jeff Carter won 14-of-19.
