March 2 postgame notes

-With the win, Los Angeles improved to 65-59-23 all-time against Toronto, a record that includes a home mark of 38-24-10. The Kings swept a season series of at least two games from the Maple Leafs for the first time since 1988-89, when they went 3-0-0.

-Los Angeles improved to 13-14-2 against the Eastern Conference, 5-9-1 against the Atlantic Division, 17-10-6 in one-goal games, 12-22-2 when their opponent scores first, 7-17-2 when trailing after the first period, 4-23-1 when trailing after the second period and 12-6 in games decided after regulation.

-The Kings improved to 2-3 in shootouts this season, while the Maple Leafs fell to 1-8. Jonathan Quick moved to 1-0 in shootouts this season and 39-29 in his career, and by stopping all three shots has now stopped 164 of 236 career shootout attempts (.695). Anze Kopitar improved to 2/4 this season and 36/94 in his career, while Jeff Carter fell to 2/3 this season and 15/57 in his career, and Tanner Pearson fell to 1/3 this season and 1/5 in his career.

-Courtesy Elias Sports Bureau, Los Angeles overcame a multi-goal deficit in the third period to win a game for the first time since March 17, 2016 against the New York Rangers (trailed 3-1, won 4-3 in overtime).

-By killing off the Maple Leafs’ lone power play, the Kings have killed off 44 of their last 46 shorthanded situations since John Tavares’ power play empty net goal on January 21 at Barclays Center. The 95.7% success rate is the best in the NHL over that span.

-Los Angeles has allowed a first period goal in 10 of the last 12 games. Their minus-7 first period goal differential is the worst out of any period.

-The Kings have allowed at least 30 shots in four consecutive games; in no other stretch this season have they allowed at least 30 shots in more than two consecutive games. Three of the four games have gone to overtime.

-With Jordan Nolan and Matt Greene missing Thursday’s game, Los Angeles has now lost 200 man-games to injury this season.

-Tanner Pearson has goals in three straight games and points in four straight (3-3=6). Over his last 10 games, he has 14 points (7-7=14) and a plus-four rating.

-Trevor Lewis played his 498th career game, two games shy of 500.

-Los Angeles attempted 66 shots (35 on goal, 14 blocked, 17 missed). Toronto attempted 61 shots (41 on goal, 14 blocked, 16 missed). Dustin Brown led all skaters with seven shots on goal.

-The Kings won 32-of-70 faceoffs (46%). Anze Kopitar won 14-of-28, Nick Shore won 3-of-6, Trevor Lewis won 1-of-1, Nic Dowd won 3-of-9, Jeff Carter won 10-of-23 and Jarome Iginla won 1-of-3.

The Kings are scheduled to practice at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 3 at Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo.
