On the Jarome Iginla trade, and how he plans on using Iginla:
I think we were trying to obviously improve our goal scoring a little bit. I think Jarome’s pretty well schooled at that, or whatever the word is. He’s scored 225 goals more than anybody else on our hockey team. It gives him an opportunity to play a little longer this year and play in games that matter.
On what he recalls of Iginla, other than the goal scoring:
I know it was a big deal made of that yesterday, but that’s a long tie ago. You just want Jarome to feel good and feel energized. It’s really similar to when Vinny came here last year, almost identical when you look at it. Two really respected high-profile, really professional great guys, great locker room guys. Very same. Last year Lecavalier, Vinny came here with the same mindset that he was going to help the position for us and accept the role, and he did an awesome job, when you look at it. Now Jarome’s coming in in a little tighter window. Those are 20-something games left in the year, and in a lot of ways to help the centermen.
On not looking past this game, but the importance of this seven-game home stand:
Well, we play Toronto tonight. It’s a pretty dynamic team. In fact, they’re one of the highest scoring teams in the league. I think they have nine forwards with anywhere from 10 to 31 goals, so I have no idea what seven games would have to do with playing the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight.
