Good morning, Denver

Good morning, Insiders, good morning, Colorado, and good morning, same view (and room?) from November.

Weather report (not Weather Report): It’s going to be beautiful in Denver today, as it often is. We’ll experience abundant sunshine and temperatures that should rise into the mid-70’s. It may snow here on Thursday. Thank you, Schedulor, lesser-known Hockey God, for continuing to sneak us into Denver while it’s warm and comfortable.

So Denver’s Greyhound Bus terminal is depicted in the above photo. I’m sure many of you may have interesting stories of traveling long distances on Greyhounds, and you’re encouraged to share them in commenting. The lone time I used Greyhound, it was January of my freshman year of college, and I traveled from Ann Arbor to Columbus to visit friends in nearby Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio. This required a two-hour layover in downtown Detroit, which is already a lousy way to begin a trip. Heading south was uneventful, but on the return trip north at the end of the weekend, a massive snowstorm delayed us in the Columbus Greyhound station for something like six or seven hours and forced us to reroute through Dayton. (This story is going nowhere.) Anyway, what would have been a five-hour trip turned into about 15 hours and forced the missed connection of the Ann Arbor-bound bus in Detroit. This was also Super Bowl Sunday. Let me tell you, it is not easy to call up friends and say, “Hey, yeah, I know it’s halftime of a really good football game, but do you mind picking me up in Detroit? Hello?” Thankfully, Shannon came through in the clutch, and after giving me a tour through her suburban neighborhood of Northville (go Mustangs!), dropped me off at West Quad right as Mike Jones made a stop on Kevin Dyson in the final seconds of Super Bowl XXXIV, solidifying the win for The Greatest Show on Turf. They say it was a really good Super Bowl. (Again, thank you, Shannon.)

You know what’s much easier than travel by Greyhound? Air travel. In yesterday’s case, it was so uneventful that in watching this 90-second clip, many of you will become hypnotized by the tessellations of grain and sky and likely fall asleep.

That’s it for now, Insiders. There’s lots more to come from the Pepsi Center, where the Kings and Avs will meet for their rubber match of the 2016-17 season. Enjoy your Tuesday, Insiders. Let’s talk soon.
