February 5 postgame notes

-With the loss, Los Angeles fell to 57-35-15 all-time against Washington, a record that includes a road mark of 24-21-8. The Kings have lost three consecutive games in regulation at Washington, though they are 6-3-2 with one tie in their last 11 visits to Verizon Center. These teams will conclude their regular season series on March 11 at Staples Center.

-With the loss, Los Angeles jfell to 11-11-2 against the Eastern Conference, 8-5-1 against the Metropolitan Division, 8-9 in games decided by three or more goals, 9-17-2 when their opponent scores first, 5-14-2 when trailing after one period and 21-14-2 when outshooting their opponent.

-The Kings were shut out for the sixth time this season (also: at St. Louis, at Chicago, Anaheim, at Boston, Detroit).

-Peter Budaj’s shutout streak was snapped at 147:21.

-Drew Doughty’s seven-game assist streak and Anze Kopitar’s five-game point streak (and four-game assist streak) were snapped.

-Doughty was the only King who wasn’t on the ice for a goal against.

-Alec Martinez was a minus-four or worse for the third time this season (also November 10 at Montreal, January 9 vs Dallas). Entering this season, he had been a minus-three only five times in his career and had never been a minus-four.

-Washington’s run of eight straight home games with at least five goals is the longest streak in NHL history and the longest streak in the NHL since Pittsburgh in 1991-92. (via Elias Sports Bureau)

-Los Angeles attempted 80 shots (38 on goal, 29 blocked, 13 missed). Washington attempted 35 shots (20 on goal, 10 blocked, 5 missed). Devin Setoguchi led all skaters with six shots. Kevin Gravel was the only King to fail to register a shot on goal.
-The Kings won 29-of-52 faceoffs (56%). Anze Kopitar won 12-of-21, Nick Shore won 6-of-9, Trevor Lewis won 1-of-2, Nic Dowd won 4-of-8 and Jeff Carter won 6-of-12.
