January 18 postgame quotes: Sean Backman

On what the difference was overall in the game:
It was just sloppiness on our part. They like to play that run-and-gun chip style where we’re more of a puck possession team. Unfortunately we were sloppy tonight and that was the result.

On playing with different line combinations:
With the injuries that we have right now we’re just trying to find the right combinations and right now Stuttsy’s just playing around with the lines to see if we can get some offense going. But we’ve been playing half a season so guys are used to each other so that’s not an excuse.

On how the team can regain first place in the Pacific during three-game homestand:
Those home games are really important us. We’re not in first place anymore so coming into the homestand that’s our goal is to win those games.

On how the Tucson rivalry compares to the one with San Diego:
It was kind of a special teams battle [Monday] night. They have a good power play and so do we so that played a little part on Monday’s game but tonight, like I said, we were sloppy and we need to be better than what we were.
