Reign forward Jonny Brodzinski and defenseman Vincent LoVerde have been selected to represent the Pacific Division at the AHL All-Star Classic, the league announced Thursday afternoon.
For the captain LoVerde, it’s his second consecutive selection. The 27-year-old Chicago native leads the Reign defense in scoring with five goals and 12 assists.
“It’s a humbling experience,” LoVerde said. “I was fortunate enough to go last year and it’s a great honor to represent your team, your teammates.”
The 23-year-old Brodzinski is in his second full season with Ontario and is second on the team in points with 22 (9-13) through 28 games. This is the first All-Star selection for the right winger from Blaine, Minnesota.
“I’m excited. It’s obviously a great experience,” Brodzinski said. “Talking to Vin and couple of guys that went last year, they said it was a great time. So, just excited to get there and see how it goes.”
The Pacific Division will be coached by none other than Ontario head coach Mike Stothers. That news was announced last weekend after the Reign finished 2016 in first place in the division.
The 2017 AHL All-Star Classic will be held January 29-30 at the PPL Center in Allentown, Pa., home arena for Lehigh Valley.
