December 23 postgame notes

-With the overtime loss, Los Angeles fell to 87-102-41 all-time against the Dallas franchise, a record that includes a road mark of 35-61-19. Both teams are 1-0-1 in the season series with overtime wins, with the rubber match-up coming on January 9 in Los Angeles.

-The Kings fell to 9-7-2 against the Western Conference, 4-4-2 against the Central Division, 9-4-4 in one-goal games, 11-4-2 when scoring first, 7-1-1 when leading after one period, 5-2-2 when tied after two periods, 0-1-2 when shots are even and 14-2-3 when a player records a multi-point game.

-Los Angeles fell to 3-2-2 during a season-long nine consecutive games away from Staples Center (3-6 L @ BUF, 4-1 W @ DET, 1-0 OTW @ PIT; 0-1 L @ BOS; 2-3 SOL @ CBJ; 4-0 W @ NSH; 2-3 OTL @ DAL; 12/28 @ VAN; 12/29 @ EDM).

-With a 3-for-3 performance, Los Angeles has killed off 26 consecutive penalties, dating back to overtime in the 5-4 shootout loss to Montreal on December 4.

-Jeff Zatkoff stopped 27 of 29 shots through regulation and one of two shots in overtime. Since allowing six goals on 23 shots in Buffalo on December 13, Kings goalies have combined to stop 166 of the last 173 shots (.960 Sv%) faced over a six-game span.

-With two goals, Jeff Carter has 14 goals and 18 points in his last 17 games. He has goals in three straight games (five total).

-Tanner Pearson recorded an assist but has gone 15 games without scoring a goal. Anze Kopitar has one goal in his last 23 games.

-By coaching his 1,237th game, Darryl Sutter moved within two games of Bryan Murray (1,239) for 14th place on the all-time games coached list.

-The Kings attempted 64 shots (31 on goal, 18 blocked, 15 missed). The Stars attempted 57 shots (31 on goal, 12 blocked, 14 missed). Drew Doughty and Tyler Seguin tied with a game-high five shots on goal.

-Los Angeles won 23-of-57 faceoffs (40%). Among regular performers, Anze Kopitar won 10-of-23, Nick Shore won 5-of-9, Nic Dowd won 2-of-8 and Jeff Carter won 6-of-16.

The Kings are on their Christmas Break and will return to practice at Toyota Sports Center at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 27.
