-With the win, Los Angeles improved to 75-59-22 all-time against Pittsburgh, a record that includes a road mark of 28-41-11. The Kings swept the season series with the Penguins for the second consecutive year, winning both games in overtime.
-Los Angeles improved to 8-5-1 against the Eastern Conference, 5-2-0 against the Metropolitan Division, 6-5-0 when tied after one, 5-2-0 when tied after two, 9-3-2 in one-goal games and 4-2-0 when outshot by their opponent.
-The Kings improved to 6-0 in games decided in overtime and 7-2 in games that extend past regulation, and have now outshot opponents 22-7 in overtime this season. Since the implementation of three-on-three prior to the start of the 2015-16 season, they are 18-3 in games decided in OT.
-The Penguins, who entered having averaged 5.6 goals per game over their seven-game winning streak, were shut out for the second time this season. They fell to 13-2-2 at home.
-Los Angeles improved to 3-2-1 during a stretch of eight consecutive games against Eastern Conference opponents (4-5 SOL vs MTL; 1-3 L vs CAR; 4-1 W vs OTT; 3-6 L @ BUF; 4-1 W @ DET; 1-0 OTW @ PIT; 12/18 @ BOS; 12/20 @ CBJ). The Kings improved to 2-1-0 in their season-long nine consecutive games away from Staples Center (3-6 L @ BUF, 4-1 W @ DET, 1-0 OTW @ PIT; 12/18 @ BOS; 12/20 @ CBJ; 12/22 @ NSH; 12/23 @ DAL; 12/28 @ VAN; 12/29 @ EDM).
-With a 4/4 performance, Los Angeles has killed off 13 consecutive penalties and have not allowed a power play goal since a 3/5 performance in the 5-4 overtime loss to Montreal on December 4.
-The Kings were credited with 64 hits to the Penguins’ 44. All players other than Tyler Toffoli were credited with a hit. Dustin Brown finished with a game-high 11 hits.
-Peter Budaj stopped 39 shots for his third shutout of the season and 14th career shutout.
-Tyler Toffoli scored his first career overtime goal, first game-winning goal of the season and 13th career game-winning goal.
-Los Angeles attempted 57 shots (28 on goal, 20 blocked, 9 missed). Pittsburgh attempted 67 shots (39 on goal, 19 blocked, 9 missed). Evgeni Malkin finished with a game-high six shots on goal and 11 shot attempts, while Toffoli finished with a team-high five shots on goal.
-The Kings won 28-of-60 faceoffs (47%). Among regular performers, Anze Kopitar won 13-of-27, Nick Shore won 2-of-7, Nic Dowd won 5-of-9 and Jeff Carter won 8-of-16.
