December 15 postgame notes

-With the win, Los Angeles improved to 84-81-32 all-time against Detroit, a record that includes an away mark of 50-34-15. Thursday’s win broke a six-game losing streak at Joe Louis Arena (0-5-1), dating back to a 2-1 win on March 9, 2011. These teams will conclude their season series on January 5 at Staples Center.

-The Kings improved to 7-5-1 against the Eastern Conference, 3-3-1 against the Atlantic Division, 4-7 in games decided by three or more goals, 9-4-1 when scoring first, 5-5-0 when tied after one period and 12-9-1 when outshooting their opponent.

-With the win, Los Angeles has now earned 900 points under General Manager Dean Lombardi, the most under any one general manager in franchise history.

-Los Angeles improved to 2-2-1 during a stretch of eight consecutive games against Eastern Conference opponents (4-5 SOL vs MTL; 1-3 L vs CAR; 4-1 W vs OTT; 3-6 L @ BUF; 4-1 W @ DET; 12/16 @ PIT; 12/18 @ BOS; 12/20 @ CBJ).

-Since being shut out in back-to-back-to-back games, the Kings have scored 58 goals (3.05 goals per game) and have allowed 47 goals (2.47 goals per game). They have scored at least three goals in five of the last six games.

-Los Angeles improved to 14-2-1 when any player registers a multi-point game. Dustin Brown (0-2=2) and Tyler Toffoli (2-1=3) recorded multi-point games. With two assists, Dustin Brown (262 career assists) moved within one assist of Mike Murphy for 10th place on the franchise’s all-time assists list.

-With his first period goal, Derek Forbort now has points in three straight games (1-2=3). He is on pace for 28 points.

-The Kings attempted 61 shots (31 on goal, 15 blocked, 15 missed). The Red Wings attempted 39 shots (18 on goal, 13 blocked, 8 missed). Anze Kopitar, Nic Dowd, Tanner Pearson and Jeff Carter tied with a game-high four shots on goal, while Carter finished with a game-high nine shot attempts (4 on goal, 2 blocked, 3 missed).

-Los Angeles won 25-of-59 faceoffs (42%). Among regular performers, Anze Kopitar won 10-of-24, Nick Shore won 1-of-5, Nic Dowd won 5-of-10 and Jeff Carter won 9-of-18.
