November 20 postgame quotes: Doughty, Carter

Drew Doughty, on any similarities between the wins against New Jersey and Anaheim:
Just more desperation. Obviously we were really sick of losing and we were trying to get through that kind of crappy time for us but yeah, we just played with a lot more desperation and played with a lot more confidence, too. When you’re playing with both of those we’re a tough team to beat.

Doughty, on Jeff Carter’s play since Kopitar’s injury:
Yeah he’s stepped up with big goals for us and been playing good in all situations for us. Big minutes, so yeah. I don’t know if he put any extra pressure on himself because other guys went down but I think he’s just been trying to play his game and playing it at a high level.

Doughty, on his goal in the second period:
Yeah just trying to find the lanes through to the net and decided to try to get it up this time rather then shoot it to the middle of the net and it was a good screen by whoever was in front.

Doughty, on playing against the Ducks in the third period:
You just have to keep going ahead. When you sit back and allow them to come at us and continue to chip pucks in and chip pucks out then they’re going to have the puck the whole time and create chances and that’s kind of what they did. We tried to reiterate before the period started just to keep on the press and keep control of the puck and play in their zone and obviously we didn’t do that too well. But we’ll learn from this experience and get better.

Jeff Carter, on his line’s performance:
I think we’ve started to get in a little bit of a groove, the three of us the last few games. I think for us to have success we have to be skating, moving, keeping the puck going north, We can all move pretty good. When we do that we create a lot of opportunities.

Carter, on whether he’s put extra pressure on himself with Kopitar out:
We don’t venture too far from our gameplan. You lose a guy like him everybody has to step up. One guy’s not going to fill his spot. Guys have done a good job. We’ll see how it goes here.

Carter, on his second goal of the game:
I didn’t have to do a lot there. It hit me in the chest. I got it before it crossed the line, but it was going in.

Carter, on getting his 600th career point:
I mean, shoot for 700 now.
