PREGAME NOTES

–Scratched tonight for the Reign are F Sam Herr, F Patrick Bjorkstrand, D Damir Sharipzianov, D Zach Trotman (upper-body injury/did not travel), G Jonah Imoo (did not travel).

–Defenseman Rob Scuderi will make his Reign debut after being a healthy scratch the first nine games of the season. He’ll be paired with first-year pro Paul LaDue. Zach Trotman (upper-body) did not travel with the team due to an injury suffered Wednesday against San Antonio and will miss his first game of the season. “We feel with Scuds going in there’s some good experience there,” head coach Mike Stothers told Joey Zakrzewski today. “A great NHL career, maybe the helter-skelter play of the American Hockey League might take a little bit for him to get used to, and hasn’t played in a while.”

–Earlier in the day the Reign recalled goalie Jack Flinn from ECHL-Manchester due to the Kings recalling Jack Campbell on an emergency basis. Campbell will join the Kings in Winnipeg. Kings G Jeff Zatkoff (lower-body) removed himself from Friday’s loss vs. Ottawa in his first game back from a groin injury. Anders Lindback will make the start tonight, his third with the Reign as he looks for his first win of the season. The mood for Stothers is ever-changing in the ongoing goalie injuries/swapping so early this season: “It depends on what moment you catch me on,” Stothers told Joey Zakrzewski today. “There’s moments where I just laugh it off and say ‘holy smokes, we’re nine games into it and we’ve already experienced another first. And then there’s other moments where I get a little frustrated, but I try not to. … There’s nothing you can do about it. We’re here to help out the Kings. Nobody’s doing it on purpose. Nobody’s trying to have these situations – how it keeps happening though, there’s no explanation. We just try to deal with it and move on. … It’s endless, it just keeps continuing and who knows when it’s gonna stop. But, it’s a complete change from last year when you know that I just automatically wrote down Budaj for every game. Maybe it’s paybacks for me.”

–Brett Sutter is facing his former organization for the first time. The Reign acquired Sutter in February 2016 in a trade for Scott Sabourin.
