Insiders! A happy Friday to you from…Ventura County? I’ve returned to Southern California for a wedding in Ojai this weekend and won’t connect with the team until practice Monday morning in Denver. This will be a wonderful and celebratory weekend that clearly offended the schedule makers, who tabbed one of the Kings four afternoon road games for this Sunday at the MTS Centre. And let me tell you, Manitoba is not as regularly accessible as, say, Phoenix. So I’m missing the next two games in Ottawa and Winnipeg, and Lindsay and Bo will take the reins of the site, with a few features mixed in. Sunday should actually be a more regular day on the blog; I had some nice conversations with Gary Thorne and Rogie Vachon that I look forward to sharing with you.
The #fancystat of this trip: 1-1. That’s the team’s record in games I’ve missed since January, 2013. There was a 5-1 win over Vancouver in November, 2013 that featured three points from Tyler Toffoli and Mike Richards, and the 3-1 loss to Chicago in Game 1 of the 2014 Western Conference Final.
Tonight’s game should actually be an interesting one. The Kings’ streaks this season? Lose three, win four, lose three, win three, lose one. This will be a good test of their mettle as players will often tell you the importance of ending losing streaks before they start. You’ll be able to catch the game on FOX Sports West, FOX Sports GO, KABC 790 and I Heart Radio. I know I’ll get some mileage out of the FOX app this weekend, and will probably be yelled at by the groom for doing so.
