November 10 postgame notes

-With the loss, Los Angeles fell to 32-90-20 all-time against Montreal, a record that includes a road mark of 10-50-11. These teams will conclude their season series at Staples Center on December 4.

-The Kings fell to 3-2-0 against the Eastern Conference, 1-1-0 against the Atlantic Division, 3-5-0 when the opponent scores first, and 2-4 in games decided by three goals or more.

-Thursday’s game was the 800th game of Dean Lombardi’s tenure.

-With an assist, Jeff Carter increased his point streak to four games (3-2=5).

-With Paul Byron’s first period goal, Peter Budaj’s shutout streak ended at 140:49. (He was credited with only 59:52 in the shutout at Toronto.)

-Nic Dowd, Kyle Clifford and Trevor Lewis had their point streaks halted at three games.

-Alec Martinez registered a minus-4 rating for the first time in his career. He had been a minus-3 only three times in 350 career games entering Thursday night.

-Los Angeles’ top power play unit – defined as one including Anze Kopitar, Jeff Carter and Drew Doughty – scored its first power play goal since Tyler Toffoli’s goal 1:22 into the season opener on October 12. Toffoli’s goal on Thursday ended a 0-for-24 overall power play skid.

-Via Elias Sports Bureau, the Canadiens improved to 12-1-1, winning 12 of their first 14 games for the first time in their 99-year history. By opening the season 9-0-0, Carey Price established the longest season-opening win streak in franchise history, besting Charlie Hodge’s 8-0-0 mark in 1960-61.

-The Kings registered 58 hits. Each skater recorded a hit, led by Matt Greene’s eight, and seven from Dustin Brown and Derek Forbort.

-Los Angeles recorded 48 shot attempts (24 on goal, 16 blocked, 8 missed). Montreal recorded 48 shot attempts (23 on goal, 13 blocked, 12 missed). Alec Martinez and Tyler Toffoli led all skaters with four shots on goal.

-The Kings won 33-of-63 faceoffs (52%). Anze Kopitar won 18-of-27, Nick Shore won 4-of-8, Nic Dowd won 6-of-17 and Jeff Carter won 5-of-11.
