October 22 postgame notes

-With the win, Los Angeles improved to 107-100-36 all-time against Vancouver, a record that includes a home mark of 66-40-18. These teams will meet next on December 28 at Vancouver.

-The Kings improved to 1-1-0 against the Pacific Division and 2-2-0 against the Western Conference.

-Los Angeles improved to 1-0 in shootouts and 2-0 in games that extend past regulation. In the shootout, Tanner Pearson improved to 1/1, while Anze Kopitar fell to 0/1 and Devin Setoguchi fell to 0/1. Peter Budaj improved to 1-0 in shootouts and has stopped all three shooters faced (1.00). The Kings’ last shootout win was a 3-2 win at Pittsburgh on December 11, 2015, Mike Johnston’s final game as head coach.

-Jeff Carter appeared in his 800th NHL game and 300th game with Los Angeles.

-Peter Budaj appeared in his 300th career game, becoming only the second Slovakia-born goaltender to do so, joining Jaroslav Halak (371 games).

-Dustin Brown scored his first regular season shorthanded goal since February 25, 2012 – one of his three goals that night – and fourth career shorthanded goal. It was his first three-point game since December 29, 2015.

-Tanner Pearson scored his team-leading fourth goal, which is tied for fourth in the NHL. He has points in all three games he has played this year and scored in the shootout for the first time in his career (now 1-for-3).

-With his second goal of 2016-17, Brayden McNabb tied his career-high in goals for a season (third time, last: 2015-16).

-The Kings attempted 74 shots (31 on goal, 21 blocked, 22 missed), the third straight game they attempted over 70 shots. The Canucks attempted 45 shots (25 on goal, 8 blocked, 12 missed). Jeff Carter led all skaters with five shots on goal and 10 shot attempts (5 on goal, 4 blocked, 1 missed).

-Los Angeles won 39-of-68 faceoffs (57%). Among regular performers, Anze Kopitar won 19-of-34, Nick Shore won 5-of-8, Nic Dowd won 4-of-6 and Jeff Carter won 10-of-18.

Sunday, October 23 is an off-day for the Kings. The next practice will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 24 at Toyota Sports Center.
