POSTGAME NOTES

–Reign goalie Jack Campbell recorded a 36-save shutout, which included a 17-save performance in the third period. For the second season in a row the Reign have opened with a shutout. Last season’s team opened with a 5-0 win at Bakersfield in Peter Budaj’s 21-save performance.

–Special teams played a significant factor as the Gulls went 0-for-6 on the power play, including two failed 5-on-3s. The Reign went 2-for-6 on the power play.

–Veteran T.J. Hensick scored the first Reign goal of the season in his first game with his new team (split time last season with Charlotte and Utica in the AHL).

–The Reign (1-0) handed the Gulls (1-1) their first loss of the season a night after they opened with a 5-3 win over Tucson.

–Both Sean Backman and Jonny Brodzinski had two assists with Backman registering the primary assist on both goals.
