February 22 practice quotes: Darryl Sutter

On the first practice after the road trip:
We had lots of guys banged up, so got some treatments yesterday. Get everybody out there and see where we’re at tomorrow.

On the team not having “gas tank” issues on a seven-game road trip:
We played well the whole trip other than one period against the Islanders. I know you looked at it because it we beat Boston 9-2, but we played better games later in the trip than we did against Boston, so I don’t think it was a gas tank thing. For sure it was. We used a lot of guys. I’ve got to give our team a lot of credit for the trip. Think about it – we used three goalies, eight defensemen, 15 forwards. Under a lot of circumstances you’d never be able to use that, if you think about cap or roster issues. Fortunately we were in a good enough position that way to be able to use guys to get points when we did. [Reporter: You faced an awful lot of adversity.] I mean, I would say when you use three goalies and eight defensemen, 15 forwards, and you look at the guys who that was – Quick, Kopitar for the main part, and Gaborik – those are three really important guys.

On Jonathan Quick returning late in the road trip:
He’d like to have won every game, and he gave us the opportunity to win every game. Didn’t score enough, which means we didn’t get enough.
