Kopitar “day-to-day” via hockey ops

A quick note on a late morning in Nashville: Anze Kopitar is “day-to-day” with a lower-body injury, according to correspondence with hockey operations.

It’s unlikely we’ll learn additional details about the severity or timeline of the injury today. As noted last night, Sutter prefers to utilize four states of availability: “Healthy,” “day-to-day,” “long-term,” and “injured reserve.”

It was unclear when the injury occurred, but the star center didn’t return to the ice after the first period. Playing in all 57 games thus far this season, Kopitar has 17 goals, 51 points and a plus-23 rating. A few more details on the circumstances of his exit from last night’s game are available here.

Los Angeles’ seven-game road trip concludes in Nashville Saturday night against the Predators. Reports from today’s practice at Bridgestone Arena will come this afternoon.
