Good morning, Glendale

Good morning, Glendale, good morning, Insiders, and good morning, Arizona-San Jose back-to-back.

After an off-ice workout, meetings and some video review, the Kings packed up the charter and departed Los Angeles shortly after 2:00 p.m Friday. It is possible to play around with filters and make a 2:15 ascent over the Santa Monica Bay appear to be dusk.

51 minutes after take-off, according to the flight plan, we touched down at PHX. Had I pressed record some 20 seconds earlier, I’d have captured an impressive view of downtown Phoenix and an open-roofed Chase Field. What other major airports are situated in such close proximity to the downtown area of the city that they serve? San Diego and San Jose spring to mind. Certainly not Edmonton or Denver.

It could not have been any more perfect of a day when we arrived, other than if, say, an anthroporphic Munters unit had greeted us upon our arrival. “Welcome to Arizona,” Munty proclaimed. “There are Munters units as far as the eye can see!” “Thanks, Munty.” Such cooling devices may actually be receiving decent use this week, as it was a perfect 75 degrees when we hopped off the plane.

Sadly, though the team hotel in Glendale is renowned for gas absorption units jutting from its silhouette, there were no Munters units visible from this current room. We haven’t spotted many Munters in the wild this season.

There is a hockey game tonight, Insiders. The Kings and Coyotes will renew their acquaintances at 7:00 p.m. local time, and the visitors will take the Gila River Arena ice for a morning skate at 11:30 this morning. Arizona is not holding a morning skate. Enjoy your Saturday; let’s talk soon.
