December 22 postgame notes

-With the loss, Los Angeles fell to 61-58-19 all-time against San Jose, a record that includes a home mark of 38-25-7 and a 2015-16 mark of 1-2-0. Though home teams are 26-9-1 in the last 35 regular season games, road teams have won all three games this season. These teams will also meet at the SAP Center on January 24 and March 28.

-The Kings fell to 10-6-0 against the Western Conference and 4-5-0 against the Pacific Division.

-Los Angeles fell to 0-1-0 over a stretch of five consecutive games against the Pacific Division (L vs SJS, 12/26 @ ARI, 12/28 @ VAN, 12/29 @ EDM, 12/31 @ CGY). Prior to this stretch, the Kings were 5-2-1 during an eight-game stretch against the Eastern Conference.

-The Kings fell to 12-4-1 when scoring first and 13-2-0 when leading after two periods. The Sharks improved to 4-13-2 when allowing the first goal.

-Los Angeles surrendered a two-goal lead in a loss for the first time since doing so in a 4-2 loss at Anaheim on February 28, 2015.

-The Kings’ 21 first period shots were the most in one period since 23 were recorded on April 10, 2014 at Edmonton.

-Tyler Toffoli registered his team-leading fifth multi-point game of the season and has a team-leading 14 goals on the season.

-In his 100th regular season NHL game, Tanner Pearson (0-2=2) registered his third multi-point game of the season.

-Justin Braun led all skaters with five blocked shots.

-Los Angeles recorded 69 shot attempts (36 on goal, 12 blocked, 21 missed). San Jose recorded 41 shots (23 on goal, 7 blocked, 11 missed). Alec Martinez led all skaters with six shots on goal, while Anze Kopitar led all skaters with eight shot attempts (3 on goal, 3 blocked, 2 missed).

The Kings are on their Christmas break until December 26, when they will hold a morning skate in Glendale, Arizona.
