December 12 postgame notes

-With the overtime loss, Los Angeles fell to 43-56-20 all-time against Buffalo, a record that includes a road mark of 16-32-11. The Kings are 1-11-3 (including one tie) on the road in the series, dating back to 1993-94. Los Angeles has been outscored 32-9 in the run of play during their current seven-game losing streak (0-5-2) at the First Niagara Center. These teams will meet again at Staples Center on February 27.

-The Kings fell to 9-3-2 against the Eastern Conference and 3-1-2 against the Atlantic Division. Saturday’s game marked the fifth of eight consecutive games against the Eastern Conference. Thus far they are 4-0-1 (W vs PIT, W vs TBL, W @CBJ, W @ PIT, OTL @ BUF, 12/14 @ OTT, 12/17 @ MTL, 12/19 @ TOR).

-Though Los Angeles’ win streak ended at six games, the Kings still have points in a season-long nine straight games (7-0-2).

-Los Angeles’ 21 shots on goal was the second lowest total of the season and lowest since recording 15 shots on goal in a 3-0 loss to Vancouver on October 13. They have averaged 34.9 shots on goal over the last 12 games (419 total shots).

-The Kings fell to 10-3-0 when scoring first, 7-2 in games that extend past 60 minutes and 5-1 in overtime.

-Anze Kopitar has 11 points (3-8=11) in the last 11 games. He had his streak of logging at least 23 minutes end at five games, though he has logged at least 20 minutes in 11 straight games.

-Drew Doughty’s streak of logging at least 29 minutes ended at eight games with a TOI of 26:42.

-Los Angeles attempted 46 shots (21 on goal, 17 blocked, 8 missed). Buffalo attempted 58 shots (30 on goal, 14 blocked, 14 missed). Jack Eichel led all skaters with five shots on goal and 10 shot attempts (5 on goal, 1 blocked, 4 missed). Marian Gaborik, Tanner Pearson and Jeff Carter tied for the L.A. lead with four shots on goal.

-The Kings won 24-of-54 faceoffs. Among regular performers, Anze Kopitar won 8-of-18, Jordan Weal won 1-of-4, Nick Shore won 6-of-13 and Jeff Carter won 9-of-18.
