Reign pre-game notes

–The Reign are playing their first AHL home game in franchise history. “I remember the crowd being great,” said defenseman Vincent LoVerde, who played two seasons with the Reign when the team was the Kings’ ECHL affiliate. “Excited to get the first one in at home. Obviously it’s a good opponent in Bakersfield so I think everyone’s pretty excited.”

–Ontario already trounced Bakersfield in the Condors’ home opener back on Oct. 10. Kris Newbury had two goals in that game.

–Behind goalie Peter Budaj, the Reign have given up just one goal through three games, tops in the league.

Scouting the opposition

–The Condors will turn to former Kings goalie Ben Scrivens tonight. It will be his first start of the season for Bakersfield, which is winless in its last three games.

–Center Leon Draisaitl, the Oilers’ top pick at No. 3 in the 2014 NHL Draft, is playing in his first AHL season after leading the Kelowna Rockets (WHL) to the Memorial Cup final a season ago. He is the highest drafted German in NHL history.

–Defenseman Brad Hunt already has six assists through four games this season.
