Good morning from El Segundo, where the Kings’ morning skate has wrapped up in advance of tonight’s game against the Colorado Avalanche (7:00 p.m. / FOX Sports West / KABC 790 / I Heart Radio).
Rushes at today’s skate indicated no changes from Friday’s lineup:
Gaborik-Kopitar-Brown
Lucic-Carter-Toffoli
Pearson-Shore-Lewis
Clifford-Andreoff-Nolan
McNabb-Doughty
Muzzin-Martinez
Forbort-Ehrhoff
Extras: Weal, Greene
-During rushes, Jordan Weal and Matt Greene skated together as an extra defensive pairing. They also remained on the ice for extra work, so neither will be expected to play tonight versus Colorado.
-Jonathan Quick left the ice first at the morning skate. No surprises are expected; he should get the nod against the Avs.
-Colorado isn’t holding morning skates on the road, but there are already several lineup adjustments to report. Offensive defenseman Tyson Barrie has been suspended for three games for charging and interference as the result of an incident Friday night in Anaheim that left Ducks defenseman Simon Despres injured. Per Terry Frei, Reto Berra will start in net. He’s coming off a 35-save shutout Friday night and has stopped 81 consecutive shots over his last three appearances. One of those appearances – on April 9 of last season – was the game in which Los Angeles was looking for help from Colorado against Winnipeg, and Berra finished with a 41-save blanking in a 1-0 shootout win.
-There’s lots more to come on a busy Sunday – REMINDER: Tonight’s game starts at 7:00, not 7:30 – including Darryl Sutter quotes, which will follow next.
