October 16 morning skate quotes: Darryl Sutter

On challenges unique to the Minnesota Wild:
Same challenge as last year. Very same team. Fast team and a structured team. Good hockey club. [Reporter: I guess the stigma about Minnesota is that they are a team that doesn’t give you much time or space-] I think most teams are like that. That’s not specific to them. As I said, they’re a fast team, and they play with really good structure.

On the power play:
I think we need more time with the puck. I think we’ve spent a lot of time going 200 feet up and down the ice instead of battling for the puck and not thinking about the fancy play. Two games ago, I think we had good looks, and this last game we didn’t.

On Milan Lucic:
I have no problem with his work or what we’re trying to do or anything like that, or try. I have no issue with that. I think there still is an adjustment thing, but he’s got to get into that adjustment thing, and he’s got a real strong identity. He’s got to play that way. At the end of the day, that is what it’s about. Play to your identity. He’s probably had our best scoring opportunities, quite honest, of anybody in our forward group the last two games. You want him to be in that position. You want him to be in a slot or to the net position, but then you want him to fire it. There are places or times where instead of taking the shot he’s tried to make the play, or he’s taken the shot and missed the net. Those are execution things.
