October 16 morning skate notes

-Good morning from the hallway of the Kings’ dressing room and coaching offices in El Segundo. Players who will be in tonight are off the ice, and a firm indication of the lineup is available. That lineup would appear to be:

Gaborik-Kopitar-Brown
Lucic-Carter-Toffoli
Pearson-Shore-Lewis
Clifford-Andreoff-Nolan

McNabb-Doughty
Muzzin-Martinez
Forbort-Ehrhoff

-Matt Greene, who joined Thursday’s practice late, was on the ice for the entirety of Friday’s morning skate. He remained on the ice for extra work with Jordan Weal, though, so that pair will be out of the lineup and Derek Forbort, a Duluth native, will make his NHL debut against the Minnesota Wild. Forbort will be playing in front of family, and there will be friends back home watching on FOX Sports North.

-No surprise: Jonathan Quick left the ice first and will be expected to start in net against the Wild. Versus Minnesota, Quick has a career record of 9-5-3 with a 2.46 goals-against average, a .901 save percentage and no shutouts in 17 starts.

-Former Ontario Reign goalie Darcy Kuemper will draw his first start of the season for Minnesota, per Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Via Russo:

Kuemper, 25, went more than three months between starts last season thanks to Devan Dubnyk’s brilliant run to the playoffs.

“L.A.’s L.A., so I don’t know that we’re necessarily giving [Kuemper] too much of a favor by starting him in there,” coach Mike Yeo said, laughing.

-I’ll jump on the first segment of tonight’s Kings Live pre-game show to talk about Forbort’s background and his growth both at North Dakota and over the past two seasons in Manchester. Kings Live begins at 7:00, with puck drop scheduled for 7:35 p.m.

-More to come on LAKI shortly when Darryl Sutter addresses the media.
