October 15 practice notes; Forbort to debut?

Good afternoon, Insiders. Notes from today’s morning skate:

-Matt Greene did not take the ice at the start of practice but joined his teammates well into the skate. Darryl Sutter had noted yesterday that “hopefully he’ll practice [Thursday];” he did so in a limited capacity. As such, Derek Forbort is expected to make his NHL debut against his home-state Minnesota Wild at the arena in which he heard his name called 15th overall in 2010. There are always butterflies in advance of an NHL debut, so with that in mind, how would Sutter want him to play? “Nervous-ready is good. Nervous-not ready is not good.” Should he play, Forbort would become the final player selected in the first round of the 2010 draft to make his NHL debut.

-With Greene joining late, all lines and pairings matched up with those shown yesterday. Offensive alignments were Gaborik-Kopitar-Brown, Lucic-Carter-Toffoli, Pearson-Shore-Lewis and Clifford-Andreoff-Weal-Nolan, and defensive pairs were McNabb-Doughty, Muzzin-Martinez and Forbort-Ehrhoff.

-Darryl Sutter quotes will follow, as will a Forbort story. Given the Blue Jays’ advancement to the ALCS and Game 5 of Dodgers-Mets taking place tonight, I’m also trying to figure out who the best baseball players on the Kings. If I get a few bites, I’ll share them on LAKI.

-This is the 69,999th draft of a story in the history of LA Kings Insider. Thank you, as always, for your continued support and commentary.
