October 13 postgame quotes: Darryl Sutter

On what he’s most concerned with:
I think the play of our top players. Guys you count on to lead you in terms of offense and lead you.

On what the offense is struggling with:
I think tonight’s different than – is that what you’re asking, tonight? [Reporter: Yeah.] Yeah, they didn’t have many touches in the offensive zone. A lot of that is fighting through checks and second, third efforts – things like that. [Reporter: And they’re not doing that right now?] Tonight they didn’t. They didn’t have many touches.

On whether there’s a sense of urgency after three games:
Absolutely there’s a sense of urgency. We need some production out of those guys.

On whether the Kings will get “bag skated”:
You want to talk about tonight’s game? That’s kind of a funny question.

On Milan Lucic:
I thought tonight he was really strong in the first period. He tried to be foreceful. I think he had two or three good looks. Probably should’ve shot on that breakaway. Did he look off for Carts?

On improvements from the defense and Jonathan Quick:
I think the second period, the penalty kill, the five-on-three, I think we had over six minutes of penalties to kill in the second that should’ve given us a little bit of a lift or a little bit of momentum. That is a defensive posture there when you kill those, especially the whole five-on-three against a team like that. It didn’t push anybody to another level, that’s for sure.

On the reason Matt Greene didn’t play much in the third period:
We had lots of guys not play, quite honest. [Reporter: It wasn’t a physical issue?] Not that I’m aware of, no.

On what he’d like to see on Friday night against Minnesota:
We need a good start like we had tonight, and you’ve got to bear down and work for your opportunities.
