Budaj to Ontario's camp; Reign preseason shootout loss - LA Kings Insider

A note that I neglected to include yesterday afternoon due to time constraints:

Via the Kings:

Assigned to Ontario Reign (AHL) Training Camp:
Peter Budaj – G

Assigned to Junior:
Damir Sharipzyanov – D (Owen Sound, OHL)

Budaj hasn’t signed a contract, so he’s still on a professional tryout. Again, keep in mind that J-F Berube would have to clear waivers to be assigned to Ontario. That’s not a veiled WAIVER WATCH 2015 – teams generally have their two goalies sorted out at this point – but rather insurance that if a claim did get made that the Kings have a viable Plan B. Budaj stopped 17 of 18 shots over 28:01 of ice time in the preseason and claimed two of the Kings’ three exhibition wins.

Sharipzyanov re-joins the Owen Sound Attack, with whom he posted nine goals and 34 points over 66 games in his second OHL season in 2014-15. He had remained with the Kings to rehab a wrist injury suffered in Russia’s summer world juniors evaluation camp.

Los Angeles now has 30 players remaining in training camp in advance of tonight’s game against Colorado in Las Vegas (7:00 p.m. / FOX Sports West / KABC 790 / I Heart Radio).

The Reign opened their preseason with a 3-2 shootout loss to the San Diego Gulls at Citizens Business Bank Arena last night. Normally we’d shake our fists at preseason shootouts, but hey, it’s the first AHL game in the building’s history, and those who were there were treated to some extra hockey. Alex Roach and Valentin Zykov scored as Michael Houser stopped 25 of 27 shots. Houser is eligible to be assigned to ECHL-Manchester. | PRESS RELEASE
