September 21 postgame quotes: Darryl Sutter

On what he was looking for in the first preseason game, and whether he got it:
Attention to detail and some pace. Like normal early preseason, a lot of penalties, a lot of special teams. Wanted to get both goalies in, and both guys played well. Both teams had lots of young guys in the lineup. [Reporter: I know there was a ton of special teams time in that game tonight, but from that structure standpoint, were you pleased with what you saw?] Yeah, some of it. Obviously a lot of work to do. I don’t take too much out of it. As I said, attention to detail, systems.

On J-F Berube’s performance:
I thought both goalies were solid. Other than the Bartosak penalty, I think both goalies were really good.

On players who stood out:
Teaching young players the first game. Both teams had lots of young guys. Play to their ability and work hard. I don’t think there’s anything special about combinations or any of that stuff. Pretty tough to have combinations early.

On whether Kevin Gravel will have a chance to play in the NHL this year:
He played his first exhibition game tonight, so that’s good for him.
