Voynov suspended by Kings in addition to NHL

There are more details coming, but I have been informed that the Kings have suspended defenseman Slava Voynov. This is in addition to the suspension imposed by the NHL.

From what I have learned, the impetus for Los Angeles’ suspension is based in part on the Achilles injury Voynov suffered that was deemed to be outside of hockey-related activity.

With Voynov’s suspension, his contract does not count against the Kings’ salary cap. With his contract off the books, Los Angeles has allotted roughly $59.98 million towards 16 players for 2015-16.
