High school hockey tryouts begin this weekend

The Los Angeles Kings High School Hockey League will take a step towards its inaugural season as Valencia and Santa Barbara district teams will hold open tryouts this weekend for players who will be in grades 9-12 during the 2015-16 season.

The Valencia team will hold tryouts on both Saturday, May 16 and Sunday, May 17 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Valencia Ice Station is located at 27745 Smyth Dr., Valencia, CA 91355.

The Santa Barbara team will hold a try-out on Saturday, May 16 from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. Because the Goleta Ice in Paradise rink isn’t expected to be completed before September, try-outs for the Santa Barbara district team will take place at the Channel Islands Ice Center, located at 830 Wagon Wheel Rd., Oxnard, CA, 93036.

Two new pure high school teams have been added to the league: Oaks Christian High School and Newbury Park High School in Thousand Oaks.
