April 7 postgame quotes: Muzzin, Stoll, Kopitar

Jake Muzzin, on the game:
Disappointing outcome, I think we were a little sluggish early on and kind of carried on throughout the game. We had some opportunities and they capitalized on our mistakes, really they capitalized on and took advantage of [mistakes] and we didn’t do that.

Muzzin, on how the team responds to the loss:
Regroup, get some energy back in the room, some positive vibes going and go into Calgary and look to get two points there.

Jarret Stoll, on the challenges of generating offensive opportunities at even strength:
I don’t think we had too much sustained pressure offensively. I think it was a lot of in-and-outs and maybe the chances we did have hopped over our sticks or didn’t quite get to the rebounds or whatever it was. But some costly mistakes on their goals and it’s going to happen. We’ve got to force them to make some mistakes to help us out and get us some offense, but we didn’t do that tonight… disappointing loss.

Stoll, on whether the team is too tired:
No, this time of year, it’s very, very difficult to run out of gas when [we’re in] the situation that we’re in. That was not it at all.

Stoll, on whether they were chasing the game:
We’ve got two games left. You’re right, we were chasing the game. Anytime you’re down one, you’re chasing the game. You’re down two, you’re chasing the game. It’s a hard league. It’s a tough league to come back no matter who you’re playing. We’ve got two games. We’ve got to play well the next game in Calgary and get two points there and see what happens.

Stoll, on whether they were aware of Winnipeg and Calgary winning during the game:
No, I don’t really… it’s not our worry at that point. Our worry is to try to get another goal to tie the game up here and we didn’t do it. It was, like I said, a disappointing loss.

Anze Kopitar, on the loss:
I just didn’t think we had enough energy, enough jump. Obviously, this wasn’t good enough. We didn’t play our style of game. I think it was too much of a run-and-gun game. When you play a team like Edmonton, they have a lot of speedy forwards and it hurt us.

Kopitar, on whether they didn’t have enough energy because they’re on a back-to-back:
Maybe, I don’t know what the reason was. It wasn’t good enough, that’s the bottom line.

Kopitar, on whether they have to take every possible point remaining:
Yeah, we’ve got to win two games and then we’ll see what happens.

Kopitar, on whether the loss is more frustrating because Winnipeg and Calgary won:
We’ve got to focus on what we can control and that’s win the next two games, or win the next game and we’ll go from there. [Reporter: The team you have to beat out is the team you’re playing, so at least that’s kind of…] Yeah, it usually comes down to that anyways and it’s never easy. It is what it is. We just have to win games, that’s the bottom line.

Kopitar, on falling into Edmonton’s style of play:
I don’t know. Our D-zone wasn’t as sharp as it needs to be and they burned us pretty much on a couple faceoff goals. Our power play gave us life for a little bit. That’s about it.
