March 26 postgame notes

-With the win, Los Angeles improved to 45-42-14 all-time against the New York Islanders, a record that includes a road mark of 20-25-6. The Kings are 7-2-2 in their last 11 visits to Nassau Coliseum, with one tie.

-Los Angeles finished the regular season with a 16-12-4 record against the Eastern Conference and 7-6-3 record against the Metropolitan Division.

Via NHL.com, the Kings swept the Islanders, New York Rangers and New Jersey Devils on the road for the third time in its history and for the second consecutive season. Two other teams (Anaheim Ducks, 2008; Nashville Predators, 2006) have accomplished that feat.

-Tyler Toffoli’s third period shorthanded goal was his fifth of the season. He leads the NHL in both short-handed goals and short-handed points. He is the first King to register at least five shorthanded goals in a single season since Pavol Demitra (five) did so during in 2005-06.

-Los Angeles failed to register a power play goal for only the fourth time in their last 11 games. The power play is 8-for-30 over that span.

-With a 1-for-2 performance, The Kings have killed off 49 of the last 53 penalties, dating back to David Jones’ second period goal in the 5-3 win over Calgary on February 12.

-Dating back to February 7, Jonathan Quick is 16-4-2 with a 1.75 GAA, a .933 Sv% and three shutouts (1302:22 min / 565 shots against / 527 saves). He played in his 400th game tonight. Via NHL.com, he also won his 100th game (defeated the Detroit Red Wings 4-3 on Feb. 6, 2010), his 200th (defeated the San Jose Sharks 2-0 on Nov. 28, 2011) and his 300th (defeated the Buffalo Sabres 3-0 on Nov. 7, 2013).

-Darryl Sutter won his 543rd game, moving past Billy Reay for 15th most in NHL history.

-Anze Kopitar extended his point streak to five games (2-6=8). He has 15 points (4-11=15) in his last 12 games.

-Marian Gaborik’s three-game point streak was snapped.

-Jeff Carter (0-1=1) has 43 points (19-24=43) and a plus-24 rating in 42 career games against the Islanders.

-Jake Muzzin played in his 200th NHL game.

-Los Angeles won 30-of-51 faceoffs (59%). Among regular performers, Mike Richards won 2-of-4, Anze Kopitar won 10-of-22, Nick Shore won 8-of-9 and Jeff Carter won 10-of-16.

-The Kings attempted 65 shots (37 on goal, 21 blocked, 7 missed). The Islanders attempted 56 shots (27 on goal, 21 blocked, 8 missed). John Tavares led all skaters with 10 shot attempts (3 on goal, 5 blocked, 2 missed), while Tyler Toffoli led all skaters with five shots on goal.
