Good morning, Insiders, and good morning, suburban New Jersey.
Yes, we’re here on the east coast after a late arrival in the wee hours of the morning. It’s the club’s first jaunt to the Eastern Time Zone since the White House-slash-Super Bowl-slash-Florida trip seven weeks ago, and to travel across the country, the Kings did so in style.
Well, maybe not “in style” as much as “in a cavernous, empty 747.”
If you wanted exercise, you could have done laps up and down the aisles and through the galleys. With the players up front in the nose and the coaches upstairs, the media, training and equipment staffs had the run of the plane. When we’re on shorter, in-conference hauls, we’re usually on a plane that’s modified very comfortably. But for the cross-continent hauls when we’re on a larger plane, and on charters that have the traditional first class / coach separation, I let those with more seniority take the Economy Comfort seats. So, naturally, on such a massive airliner, with virtually any seat available, I chose a spot directly above the gigantic wing and gazed out at two large engines. Nick Nickson was a pair of rows back, and farther back, near the galley, were Daryl Evans and Mike Kalinowski (a.k.a Krusher), the club’s Director, Communications and Media Services. It was night, so there was no need for a landing video, but on these massive planes it’s possible to walk across the center rows to capture a more preferred video upon approach.
There are no videos today, nor are there any Munters units visible from the hotel room window. Instead of Munters, let’s all talk about these handsomely embedded Soundcloud audio clips from yesterday afternoon’s game.

It should be a busy Sunday in Newark, where the Kings are scheduled to take the ice at the Prudential Center at 1:00 p.m. Lots more to come from the outset of an important five-game road trip. Enjoy your Sunday, Insiders.
