March 18 postgame quotes: Brown, Williams

Dustin Brown, on momentum shifts:
I mean, there are little momentum swings here and there. They’ve been a top team in the league now, so it comes down to little plays and little tiny things that make a difference. I mean, if you look at their – I don’t know, the first goal was a communication goal. We just lost our communication. There was an extra man coming out of the box and we didn’t sort it out quick enough, and then the same thing on probably the winning goal was a pick, and we didn’t read off of it well enough or talk enough. Those are the little things that make a difference.

Brown, on the Kings’ emotional response when Anaheim took a third period lead:
I think Justin scored a big goal for us and I thought we carried the play the last four minutes. We had opportunities right before Justin scored and right after to score again. At the end of the day we had a one-nothing lead and had to climb back into a game late, so it’s probably something we need to adjust.

Justin Williams, on settling for one point:
Certainly. The last two games in this building we’ve given up third period leads, which come playoff time we know is a recipe for elimination. It’s something we’ve obviously got to look at, and we need to shut those games down.

Williams, on the frustration of giving away a third period lead:
Well, yeah, we talked about it. They scored right away in the third. Listen, they’re obviously a good third period team. When they get down a goal they press, the D comes down the wall and it’s a full blown attack. We’re not an old team but we’re certainly a vetern team that’s experienced a lot, so we need to find ways to rectify losing these third period leads, and I know we will.

Williams, on why Anaheim won the season series despite such close play:
I mean, our overtime and shootout record is terrible. But either way, that’s not going to deter us from making the playoffs. We got a point and we’ll keep pushing forward and try to improve in areas like four-on-four and get two points next time.
