On goals not necessarily being there, but scoring chances being there:
Yeah, our last few games we’ve scored enough goals to win. Can’t base it on Pittsburgh because both goalies made big saves. Break it down, they both made big saves to keep it where it was.
On whether aligning players in pairs has always been his mindset:
You know what? I think it changed over the years a lot. Right now, we’re moving guys around, trying to get some guys going. I mean, everybody talks about these lines that are special and all that, but we have guys who haven’t scored goals for 10 games or two in 20, things like that. We’re trying to make the playoffs and to do that you’ve got to do it a point at a time, so that means we need better – we’ve got some guys who have slipped again.
On whether Nick Shore should replicate his performance from Saturday:
That line didn’t play until the 10-minute mark of the first period, so they better have lots of energy if they’re going to play. Otherwise, you lose them. I don’t know. How many games have we played? How many has he played? 20 games? So he’s going to have to get on a better clip if we’re going to make the playoffs.
On Justin Williams’ effect on younger players:
I think Justin’s professionalism, leadership, experience, work ethic, practice habits, game preparation all those, if a young player doesn’t learn from that, then he’s not trying to get better in this league. [Reporter: He’s a guy you’re confident to have out there in seven games of a series?] We’ll see if we get to a seven-game series. Every year is different. It’s about how you’re playing now.
