March 3 postgame quotes: Kopitar, Gaborik

Anze Kopitar, on the chemistry with Trevor Lewis:
I think just reading off of each other, really. I don’t think that he’s a guy that’s too hard to read on the ice. [You] kind of know what he’s going to do and he just makes it easier.

Kopitar, on how the team has maintained such success against Edmonton:
Just play our game, really. Maybe they’re not the biggest team and you definitely don’t want to get into the run-and-gun with them. You just want to control the puck. I thought we managed the puck pretty well today – holding onto it, making plays and getting chances.

Kopitar, on whether their speed helped to create chances off the rush:
Yeah, it’s just supporting the puck all over the ice. Once you have that, you can make those short, little plays and try to burn them on that. At the same time, move your feet and we did a pretty good job of that.

Marian Gaborik, on what led their opportunities off of the rush:
We were talking a lot about obviously to have a good start. The first few shifts, we have a good start and then we had quite a few chances. We were on them, we were forechecking, we’re keeping the pucks in and creating some zone time and scored some huge goals.

Gaborik, on whether this game exemplified the team’s quick puck advancement:
Yeah, we’re a fast team. We just need to work down low, come out with speed all together and just put the pucks into right places in order to forecheck and play in their zone.

Gaborik, on how Trevor Lewis contributes to the line:
Well, he’s got a lot of speed. He’s agile in the corners, side-to-side and a lot of stamina. He’s fast, strong on the puck and he creates that speed there in terms of forechecking and stuff. He gets to a lot of pucks and we can keep it in the zone and go from there.

Gaborik, on whether Andrej Sekera is getting comfortable:
Yeah, I think so. He can tell. He’s moving the puck, moving his feet and he’s getting comfortable. He’ll get better and better.
